Client Presentation (not in order)

Feedback from client
If you’re the only one covering a subject, it has lots of different angles to it. It’s been reproduced in different magazines so you need to find a sub-category to the Mirrorball.
"Think of the mirrorball as a symbol for culture."
There might a gap, to fill in. Magazine hole in corner celebrates craftsmanship. For jocks and nerds the disco ball symbolises "culture, energetic visceral community story."
"The disco ball itself is not interesting but rather the spaces it exists within and what are those stories. "
Dalston Johnny Woo. Disco reinvented, endured, historical chronology.
"Discoball is just a portal into the real world."
"Avatar into a cultural world."
You might have an idea but it doesn’t need to have a mono view.

Feedback takeaways
➤ Use the mirrorball as a guiding tool, guiding yourself to the individual.
➤ Find a community story, with the mirrorball as a symbol for that cultural world.

Reaching out to people: Email sent to "Discoball Paul"
Hi,
I'm a third year photography student documenting the disco scene in London for my project titled "Mirrorballs".
Through research, your venue popped up and I would be very grateful to photograph your mirrorball cieling at some point this month.
Please let me know if this would be possible and I'll be happy to provide more details.
Kind regards,

October 25: Feedback
➤ Create a layout using InDesign with current test shoots.
➤ Concept is looking great, just need to find that one person to bring the element of individualism.
➤ Contact discoball Paul and arrange a shoot.
➤ Paul's friend, had a bathroom decorated with mirror pieces, organise photoshoot in the mirrorball bathroom?

November: Fashion style shoot
After struggling with access to venues I switched focus to doing a fashion style shoot based on some of my intial reference images.

Results based on reference:

I also took some additional digital photos using an Olympus EM-10II with a Canon FD 50mm f1.8 vintage lens.
These are my final picks from the shoot which I've edited in Lightroom.

December 6: Client Feedback
Third version of magazine layout presented to client with an additional editorial fashion shoot to cover the fashion side of the mirrorball and cover the individualism aspect of Jocks & Nerds.

Client feedback (from memory)
- I see the direction you have gone in and like the interesting take on historic venues with mirrorballs.
- It's a shame you couldn't get in touch with mirrorball paul, this would be an interesting project to develop further into a personal one.
- Fashion style shoots are good.
- Utalise the white space.
- Polaroids are a very interesting medium. In a lot of current magazines such as Another Mag, it's enough with just one rather than putting them in a collage.

Final reflection:
I would've liked to gain access to more venues and explore how to photograph them in a more captivating way. It was a good exercise for me to
