Planning
initial ideas:

➤ Photographing work colleagues living in "Joe houses". I found out through my area manager that these no longer operate "officially". Therefore, I had to abandon this idea.

➤ Photographing Thai temples around London. I abandoned this idea due to problems with access and not being able to meet the time frame.

50 words statement draft
I am a person of third culture identity, and I was lucky to live abroad and travel throughout my life so far. Growing up I developed a deep connection with the idea of travel.

In this project, I focus on the quiet moments of reflection in Airports, Train and Bus stations.
Mindmap
➤ Home is a feeling of connection and love to a place, feeling or a person.
➤  Based on the conclusion of my mindmap, I will make a moodboard based on what this "feeling" is to me.
Moodboard
I find home in the excitement of travel.
➤ Now that I've gathered a general sense of what home is to me, I'm going to include projects or photographs that inspire me.

Edward Hopper: Urban Pictures
Although Hopper regularly visited New England, Greenwich Village (where he lived in the same apartment from 1913 until his death in 1967) was home, and New York set the stage for many of his most iconic paintings. Just as he in New England shunned dominant artistic motifs, Hopper disregarded many Jazz Age subjects—soaring skyscrapers, bustling streets, and industrial machinery—favored by American modernists. Indeed, Hopper's New York is at once instantly recognizable and strangely unfamiliar: streets are devoid of pedestrians, stores are without customers, and even automats—modern restaurants in which coin-operated, food-dispensing machines replaced waiters—lack signs of anything automatic. And though New York architecture rose to great new heights, Hopper favored instead a horizontal compositional format more closely linked to landscape traditions. He also avoided signs of the grit, noise, and commotion of urban life, imbuing his portrayals of the city with an overwhelming silence and disquieting stillness.

November 1 onward: Shooting at King's Cross
I am a person of third culture identity, and I was lucky to live abroad and travel throughout my life. For me, home is a passing sense of connection that sparks feelings of belonging. Growing up I developed a deep connection with the idea of travel and the moments of sonder as I gazed around the busy, yet calming environment. In this project, titled "Commuters In Transit", I focus on the quiet moments of reflection in airports, trains, and bus stations in order to encapsulate my idea of home.

November 6: Jubilee Line shot on Leica MP
Shooting with the Leica MP I found myself connecting a lot more with my subjects whilst shooting. The manual rangefinder and 24mm prime lens slowed me down which made the process feel more intentional. This is the only photo from my submission which hasn't been edited. I like the mysterious ambiguity surrounding what's in the suitcases and how the feel of the photo compliments this.
